TAMPA, Fla. -- The University of South Florida men's tennis team (2-6) continued its five-match homestand Wednesday afternoon with a 4-3 loss to Indiana (8-6) at the Varsity Tennis Courts in non-conference action.

USF continues its season-long five-match homestand Friday afternoon versus another Big Ten opponent at Noon when the team welcomes No. 74 Wisconsin to Tampa.

Indiana opened the match by claiming the valuable doubles point, posting wins at No. 1 and No. 3.  USF's duo of sophomores Dillon Brozyna and Marc Jaeger was the only Bull tandem to secure a win, downing Hoosiers Peter Antons and David Bubenicek by a score of 8-6.

Junior Dirk Britzen, ranked 29th in the nation, and senior Juan Barragan earned quick straight-set victories at No. 1 and No. 4 singles, respectively, but an IU win at No. 6 set the score at 2-2 with three matches remaining.

Senior Freddy Barton moved the Bulls ahead 3-2 with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over David Bubenicek at No. 2 singles.  Unfortunately for the Bulls, the Hoosiers rallied for the victory by claiming the final two singles matchups.  After dropping the first set to USF's Dillon Brozyna, IU's Michael McCarthy earned a 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 5.

The match was decided at No. 3 singles, where IU's Dara McLoughlin rallied for a 5-7, 7-5, 7-6 (2) clinching win over USF's Marc Jaeger to conclude action.  Jaeger led the third set 4-1 before McLoughlin knotted the set at 4-4 and battled through several match-point situations for USF.

The Bulls claimed first-set victories in five of the six singles matches.
