(March 5, 2006) Tampa, Fla. ? Middle Tennessee shot a final round 289 in the Dick Wittcoff Invitational at the USF Golf Course today to squeeze by second round leader New Orleans by one shot. New Orleans had held a one shot lead heading into the final round, but shot a 291 today. Middle Tennessee shot a three-round 871 to win, while host USF was 39 shots back at 910 in 14th place in the 18-team event.
Greg Koch of Florida Southern shot a final round 70 to take medalist honors with a 54-hole two-under par 211, one shot better than second place Nick Bailes (Middle Tennessee).
USF's top finisher was Tyler Hitchcock, who tied for 36th after his final round 79 gave him a 226 total. Justin Fetcho (76-229) and Chris Black (75-229) tied for 51st, Parker Ferren (75-231) tied for 60th and Kevin Tilbury (78-232) tied for 64th.
