Men's Tennis Falls to Marquette in Final Match of Regular Season

Tampa, Fla. (April 15, 2006) ? The USF men's tennis team concluded the regular season, falling to BIG EAST rival Marquette, 4-3, Saturday afternoon at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts.
The Bulls started the contest strong, taking 2-of-3 doubles matches from the Golden Eagles. USF's No. 1 doubles team of Dillon Brozyna and Marc Jaeger took care of MU's Elgis Vedrickas, 8-3.
Senior Juan Barragan and walk-on senior Raj Shah too care of Trent Hagan and Stephen Shao, 8-2, at the No. 3 spot to clinch the doubles point.
With the doubles point in hand, the Bull could only muster two singles wins, giving the Golden Eagles the 4-3 victory.
USF senior Federico Barton played in his final regular season match and came out victorious against Vedrickas at the No. 1 spot, 6-2, 6-1.
Earning USF's other victory was sophomore Jaeger who defeated MU's Hagan in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3.
USF will now wait until Monday, April 17, when the BIG EAST will announce the brackets for the BIG EAST Tournament being held April 21-25 at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts in Tampa, Fla.
