
WoMen's Tennis Rolls Past West Virginia in BIG EAST Championship

Tampa, Fla. (April 21, 2006) ? The No. 2 seed USF women's tennis team easily took care of the No. 7 seed West Virginia Mountaineers, 4-0, in less than two hours, Friday afternoon at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts.
The Bulls jumped out to an early lead when the USF doubles team of Iciri Rai and Liz Cruz downed WVU's Raynie Theis and Kelly Walsh, 8-4 to clinch the point.
Gabriela Duch and Neyssa Etienne, Ranked No. 10 by the Intercollegiate Athletic Association, had the Bulls first doubles victory, defeated the team of Stacy Percival and Natalia Prinz, 8-1, at the No. 1 spot.
In singles competition, the Bulls didn't let up on the Mountaineers, sweeping the necessary three point to advance on in the tournament. Earning victories for the Bulls were No. 63 Etienne, No. 75 Cruz and senior Luisa Obando, who clinch the match defeating Ashley Constantine at the No. 6 spot, 6-0, 6-2.
USF will advance to the semifinals of the BIG EAST Tournament and take on the winner of the Syracuse vs. Louisville quarterfinal match. USF will play on Saturday at 9 a.m. at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts.
