Bulls Earn Second BIG EAST Conference Victory Of 2006

Tampa, Fla. (September 22, 2006) ? After a scoreless first half of soccer, the University of South Florida women's team turned up the heat in the second period, scoring one goal in the 65th minute and another just 23 minutes later to beat the Providence Friars, 2-0, Friday night at the USF Soccer Stadium.
In the first half, the Bulls (5-2-1) took just five shots and recorded two corner kicks while senior goalkeeper Casey Garrett made one save. The Friars (3-2-3) took two shots in the first period as junior goalie Laura Elfers stopped three USF shots on goal.
The Bulls owned the pace of the game in the second period, controlling possession of the ball for a majority of the final 45 minutes. In the 65th minute, sophomore Ebony Robinson scored her second goal of the season off a left-to-right cross from junior Lindsay Brauer. Brauer scored her 18th point of the season and recorded her fourth assist of the year on the play.
Just 23 minutes later junior defender Jeannette Dyer converted a free kick into the bottom left corner of the net for the second goal of the game. The tally was Dyer's second goal of her career, her first of the 2006 season.
Garrett ended the game with two saves, registering her 20th of the season, while Elfers made five saves in the second conference game of the season.
The Bulls next take their 2-0-0 BIG EAST record to Storrs, Conn., to play the No. 12 Connecticut Huskies on Sunday, Sept. 24. Kickoff for the conference match-up is at 1 p.m. at the Joseph J. Morrone Stadium.
