TAMPA, Fla. - Kentrell Gransberry had 21 points and 14 rebounds to lead the University of South Florida past Winston-Salem State, 87-48, Saturday night at the Sun Dome.
It was the final non-conference tune-up for the Bulls who play host to Rutgers in the BIG EAST Conference opener on Jan. 2 at 7 p.m. at the Sun Dome.
Redshirt freshman Aaron Holmes scored 20 points and Amu Saaka added 17 for USF (9-4), which has won nine of 10 games since opening the season with three consecutive losses.
Jamal Durham had 13 points and Darrell Wonge finished with 11 to pace Winston-Salem (4-7).
Holmes scored 17 in the second half, when the Bulls hit 61 percent from the field and outscored the Rams 55-27.
USF led 32-21 at halftime despite 35-percent shooting and 11 turnovers.
Winston-Salem State shot 29.5 overall and was outrebounded 53-31.
It was the largest margin of victory for USF since a 40-point win vs. LIU-Brooklyn on Dec. 28, 2002.
