Men's Soccer Locks Up Pitt 1-1

PITTSBURGH, Pa. ? Junior midfielder Jordan Seabrook notched his team-leading fifth goal of the year as the No. 12 University of South Florida men's soccer team ended its first BIG EAST road match in a 1-1 tie, Friday evening at Pittsburgh.

Seabrook found the back of the net in the 40th minute on a breakaway ball delivered by freshman Andre Mittoo that Seabrook buried in the left side of the goal.  The score was the third goal in as many games for the Indianapolis, Ind., native as his season point total rises to 15.

The assist garnered Mittoo the first point of the young defender's career.

The goal was the 20th of the year for the Bulls (6-1-1, 1-1-1), who boast the NCAA's fourth-best scoring offense.  The team has only allowed seven scores all season long.

USF saw its first contest of the year go into extra time when the Panthers' Mike McDade scored off of a penalty kick in the 78th minute.

Pittsburgh (1-6-2, 0-2-1) notched only eight shots in the match, as keeper Diego Restrepo recorded fives saves.  USF continued its potent offensive attack, registering 20 shots, seven of which Panthers keeper Eric Barnes was able to stop.

"Pitt is a tough place to play," said head coach George Kiefer.  "The guys did a good job handling the field and it was good to get a point tonight."

USF will continue the road trip on Sunday, when it faces No. 6 West Virginia in Morgantown.  The Mountaineers own a 5-2-0 record heading into Friday evening.

The Bulls will return to Tampa to face Villanova on Fri., Oct. 12 at 8 p.m.  Tickets to all USF home matches are $5 for adults, $3 for youth 16-and-under and $2 for groups of 10 or more.  Spectators will have the opportunity to get player and coach autographs at the conclusion of every home game down on the field.  Season ticket packages are also available.  Call 1-800-GoBulls or visit www.GoUSFBulls.com for details.
