MTennis Sweeps Jacksonville 7-0

TAMPA, Fla. ? The University of South Florida men's tennis team got back on the winning track by sweeping the Jacksonville Dolphins, 7-0, Sun. afternoon at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts.
“We are beginning to build confidence in our matches,” said USF head coach Don Barr. “They are starting to find the importance of momentum and finishing each match.”
The Bulls (2-2) came out of the gates strong, capturing the doubles point on the afternoon. The tandem of Lucas and Jovita and Michael Nusslein secured the point at the second spot by taking care of Victor Vaz and Alberto Lopez, 6-0, 7-5.
USF (2-2) carried over the momentum of winning the doubles point into singles competition, winning each match in straight sets on the afternoon.
In his first dual match singles competition of the season, sophomore Daniel Daudt won the clinching match for the Bulls by defeating Lopez at the sixth spot, 6-0, 7-5.
With USF coming of back-to-back losses, Bar swapped his No. 1 and 2 positions to bring a spark to the team. Both Mamoud Hamed and Jovita answered by easily taking care of their opponents, 6-2, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-2 at the second and first singles position.
“I really liked how we stayed in the match and never overlooked our opponent this afternoon,” said Barr. “With this team being so young, there's a tendency of that happening. They are becoming more mature of a team with each match played.”
The Bulls will return to the court on Friday, Feb. 15, when they take on Stetson University. First serve is set for 2 p.m. at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts.
