M Track & Field Does UTEP Two Step

EL PASO, Tex. - - At the UTEP Spring Invitational, the University of South Florida men's track and field team added a couple more BIG EAST qualifiers and several other top finishes on the day.
Carlan Arthur (1:52.55) and Mikail Ebanks (1:53.53) placed second and third respectively in the 800m run while qualifying for the conference meet. Both Arthur and Ebanks set their season-best in the event by better than two seconds.
Fellow teammate Ryan Courtoy took fifth in the 800m to compile an all-around good showing for USF in the event.
With the addition of the two, the Bulls' total now reaches 21 qualifying marks for the BIG EAST Outdoors on May 2-4 in Philadelphia.
Sean Young, a junior pole vaulter from Titusville, Fla., placed second after topping the bar set at 5.05m (16'6.75”).
Also with a second place finish was jumps specialist Mikese Morse in the long jump. The USF all-time long jump record holder leaped 7.60m (24'11.25”) to continue a very successful sophomore year.
Junior hurdler Glenn Fowler, already a BIG EAST and NCAA Regional qualifier in the 110m and 400m hurdles, placed third in the events with times of 14.28 and 52.77 respectively.
Rounding out the top five finishes for the Bulls was Michael Kursteiner in the high jump. Kursteiner was unable to clear the 2.05m (6'8.75) bar in his first two tries, but came up in the clutch by soaring over it in his final attempt at the height.
The Bulls will now return to the Sunshine State to compete in the Florida Relays on April 4-5.
