TAMPA -- USF set another program milestone on Saturday evening when Mike Jenkins was taken with the 25th pick in the first round of the National Football League Draft by the Dallas Cowboys.

Jenkins is the first player in the 11 years of the program to be taken in the first round.  The previous high was the second round selection of Kawika Mitchell by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2003.

The selection sets up a Bulls reunion in Dallas where he will team up with Anthony Henry for the defending NFC East Division Champions.

USF has had nine total players taken in the NFL Draft, including Jenkins.  Jenkins is the first USF player to be drafted by Dallas. Henry was drafted by the Cleveland Browns and then signed as a free agent with Dallas in 2005.

The Cowboys also drafted Arkansas running back Felix Jones in the first round of the 2008 Draft.

The Cowboys went 13-3 in 2007 and were many experts pick to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.  Those plans were derailed by the eventual champion New York Giants.  The Cowboys defense was ranked No. 13 in points allowed (20.3), ninth in yards per game (307.6), No. 13 in passing yard (213.1) and sixth in rushing yards (94.6).

Fans can follow all the action live exclusively on ESPN and ESPN2.  The first and second rounds will be completed live on ESPN and ESPN2 Saturday, while the third-seventh rounds will take place Sunday.

Jenkins was a first team All-American in 2007 and was rated as the top senior CB for most of the season. He also earned First Team All-Big East acclaim and was a semifinalist for the Thorpe Award.

Fellow Bulls Trae Williams and Ben Moffitt are also expected to be selected in the draft. Williams has been slotted anywhere between the second and fifth rounds. Departed seniors Ben Moffitt, Amarri Jackson, Richard Clebert, Walt Walker, Jared Carnes and Woody George have found their names on mock drafts and among the candidates to sign free agent contracts after the Draft.
