Women's Soccer Drops Tough 1-0 Decision to Vanderbilt

“I am proud of the way the team battled. They didn't give up and fought all game,” said USF head coach Denise Schilte-Brown. “A penalty kick is a tough way to lose a game but this game will help us. Being our first road weekend, we gained a lot of experience that will help us move forward and get better.”
The game went scoreless into a second overtime and in the 101st minute, Vanderbilt sophomore Lindsay Ratterman scored the game winner on a penalty kick.
Although the Bulls were out shot by the Commodores by a margin of 20 to 7, junior goalkeeper Mallori Lofton-Malachi and the Bulls' defense played hard throughout as they made Vanderbilt work for everything they got.
“Mallori was incredible in goal for us today,” said Schilte-Brown. “She made some great saves and gave us the experience we needed back there.”
Lofton-Malachi was solid once again as she recorded nine saves on the afternoon which ties her for ninth place all-time for saves in a game.
