TAMPA -- USF junior defensive end George Selvie officially announced Wednesday morning that he will return for his senior season in 2009.
Selvie, the only two-time All-American in USF history, decided against entering the 2009 Draft for mutliple reasons.
"I want to win a BIG EAST Championship," said Selvie. "I want to graduate with my classmates and our senior class wants to finish what we started. I was part of that first team to play in the BIG EAST and I want to be a part of the first team to win a BIG EAST Championship."
Selvie will anchor a USF defensive front that only lost one senior - Jarriett Buie - in 2008. The Bulls were ranked No. 13 in total defense at the end of the regular season.
"We are extremely happy to have him back," said USF defensive coordinator Wally Burnham. "He's an anchor of our defense and veteran leader. He will only get better next season and that will dramatically improve our defense as a unit."
Selvie had 13.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks while earning first team All-America honors in 2008. He will enter his senior season as the USF career leader in sacks and tackles for loss.
