NEW YORK - Looking to clinch a spot in the 2009 BIG EAST Tournament, the University of South Florida women's soccer team fell victim to a golden goal from St. John's Courtney Lane in the 102nd minute of play Friday afternoon in Queens, NY.
USF battled but couldn't to capitalize on their four shots on goal. The Bulls attempted 10 shots in all. Taylor Patterson led the way with four total shots with two being on goal.
Senior goalkeeper Mallori Lofton-Malachi was strong in goal for the Bulls making five saves on the day but gave up Lane's golden goal after after shutting out the Red Storm for 100 minutes of play.
Lofton-Malachi was joined by five other Bulls who went the distance playing the entire match. Boo Eagle, Valorie O'Brien, Taylor Patterson, Bahar Sansar and Rehana Murani did not take a seat on the bench for Denise Schilte-Brown.
USF, now 8-6-3 on the season and 5-3-2 in the BIG EAST, finish up the 2009 season on Sunday when they head to upstate to take on the Orange of Syracuse on the Orange
