Bulls Fall at Rutgers in Regular Season Finale

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- JR Inman had 10 points and 12 rebounds as Rutgers held on for a 45-42 win over the University South Florida on Saturday.

The Scarlet Knights (11-20, 2-16 Big East) seemed to be in command late, holding a 43-34 lead with eight minutes left to play. But USF crawled back with an 8-0 run before Rutgers' Earl Pettis made a tip-in with 13.1 seconds.

USF then had a chance to tie the score, but Augustus Gilchrest missed a 3-pointer from the top of the arc in the final seconds.Dominique Jones led South Florida (9-21, 4-14) with 11 points on 5-for-19 shooting, and he also pulled down six rebounds.

Chris Howard finished with 10 points, six rebounds and five assists for the Bulls.Anthony Farmer also scored 10 points for Rutgers, which snapped an eight-game losing streak with the win.

Up Next: USF will remain in the greater New York area to play in the BIG EAST Tournament March 10-14. The Bulls are the No. 14 seed and will take on No. 11 seed Seton Hall on Tuesday, March 10, at 9 p.m. If USF defeats Seton Hall Tuesday it will play again at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11, against the No. 6 seed. ? Junior guard Chris Howard chipped in 10 points, six rebounds and five assists. Alex Rivas also pulled down six rebounds.

? With 11 points vs. Rutgers, Dominique Jones sits in 14th-place on the all-time USF scoring list with 1,078 points. He is just 27 points from Fred Lewis's 1,105 points.

? Senior guard Jesus Verdejo returned to action after missing the last two games with a right foot injury. He has been playing on an injured right foot and has Plantar Fasciitis and Achilles Tendonitis. On Friday, Feb. 27, he was diagnosed with a bruised talus in his right foot and will be day-to-day the remainder of the year.

? Junior Chris Howard picked up five assists vs. the Scarlet Knights. He is currently in 9th place all-time on the USF career assist list with 358. Penny Greene sits in 8th with 364 assists.

? In addition to moving up the career points list, Dominique Jones is also moving up the career free throws made list and is currently 12th with 244 made. He is just 15 free throws made from moving into 10th all-time.
