PHILADELPHIA - Senior hurdles specialist Glenn Fowler was golden in the 400-meter hurdles on the third and final day of the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships, earning top billing in the event for the second consecutive year with a personal-best 51.05 finish.
The “Green & Gold” men finished seventh among the conferences 14 teams with a point total of 51 while the women placed 10th out of 16 teams with 35 total points. USF also had seven student-athletes and a pair of relay teams add points to the team totals through the 10 events on day three.
Junior Yvana Hepburn also medaled for the Bulls in 100m hurdles competition, finishing third overall in a time of 13.91. Rookie David Aristil joined Fowler in the 400m hurdles, scoring with a fifth-place finish in a time of 52.15.
The Bulls 4x100 relay team of Armante Marshall, Kendale McDaniel, D'Andre Ruff and Greg Fontus earned a spot on the podium with a 41.27 for a second place overall finish. The men's 4x400 relay team of Aristil, Josh Wimbley, Mikail Ebanks and Carlan Arthur also scored with a seventh-place finish in a time of 3:13.97.
Fontus also chalked up points in both the 100m and 200m dash finals, finishing sixth (10.95) and eighth (22.46), respectively.
Horizontal jumps specialists Samantha Shade and Antillio Bastian both recorded top-eight finishes in the triple jump, finishing fourth and seventh, respectively. Shade earned All-BIG EAST recognition with a leap measuring 38-8.25 while Bastian chalked up two points for the Bulls with a 47-7.75 jump.
Senior Jazmine Highsmith rounded out the scoring, placing eighth in the hammer throw with a distance of 160-7. Rookies Lauren Noe and Atasha Warren joined Highsmith in the event, finishing 10th (158-8) and 13th (140-1), respectively.
Following conference competition the Bulls have a week to rest before returning to the track at the Georgia Tech Invitational on May 15-16.
