Boaz Named to Honor Roll for Second Time in 2010

TAMPA- Following an outstanding weekend against Pittsburgh and West Virginia, USF senior Allie Boaz was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.

Boaz collected a career high 28 kills in the five set win over Pittsburgh on Saturday. Boaz was the driving force behind the Bulls' comeback victory, as they trailed two sets to won and eventually took the fifth set after trailing 14-10.

"Boaz' performance against Pittsburgh was not only historical for her, but memorable for all of us that were a part of it," head coach Claire Lessinger said.

The 28 kills in the match set a season high for kills among all players in the BIG EAST Conference this season.

The Bulls' outside hitter also added eight kills in the Sunday match against West Virginia.

The honor marks the second time this season that Boaz has been named to the honor roll. The first came after the opening weekend of BIG EAST play, where Boaz led the Bulls to a pair of upset victories over Marquette and previously undefeated Syracuse.

"She is a special player that is fun to coach and even more fun to watch play. I'm proud of the consistency she brings to this year's squad," Lessinger said.

Boaz has helped lead the Bulls to a 4-2 record in league play, collecting a team-high 85 kills, averaging 3.54 per set on the year.

The senior will lead her team to Washington, D.C. this weekend to continue conference play against Georgetown, on Saturday.
