WASHINGTON, D.C.- The University of South Florida volleyball team rallied from a 2-0 set deficit on Saturday to knock off Georgetown in five sets.

The Bulls, who are quickly making a reputation as the Comeback Kids, took the final three sets of the match, to improve to 9-9 on the season and 5-2 in league play.

Exactly one week after rallying against Pittsburgh, the Bulls came together and took the match, despite dropping the opening two sets to the Hoyas.

The Bulls looked off in the opening set, and quickly found themselves in the lockerroom, down yet again, but not out.

USF has had a knack for coming from behind, so the team knew that they could do it again.

The Bulls fell behind 11-7 in the pivotal third set, but used a 18-4 run to take the set and swing the momentum.

Senior Allie Boaz led the Bulls once again, colleting a match-high 21 kills, including seven in the third set which helped to ignite the rally. The outside hitter added two solo blocks and a block assists.

USF, who was without J'beria Davis due to an illness, desperately needed players to step up, and it was freshman Andrea Gomez and Kamika Rozier who rose to the occasion.

Rodriguez Gomez recorded 12 kills in the comeback win, while adding seven digs, one solo block and two block assists, while Rozier came off of the bench to give the Bulls a spark with six kills and five blocks.

Senior Mariana Thon set up the Bulls comeback yet again, picking up 43 assists in the match. Janice Rivera challenged the team during the break and helped lead the Bulls with 13 digs in the winning effort.

Things looked bleak early on, as the USF offense struggling to get things going, dropping the first set, 25-21 , while hitting just .107 as a team.

USF fell behind again in set number two, but showed signs of life near the end, cutting the Hoya lead to just 24-24, before Georgetown was able to close it out 26-24.

The Bulls came out with renewed confidence in the third set, but still fell behind 11-7. In a spot where many teams would roll over, the Bulls pulled together with their backs against the wall and, sparked by Boaz, reeled off a 18-4 run to take the third set and swing the momentum to their favor.

Even with the momentum, USF fell behind again in the fourth set, 12-7, but were not intimidated. The Bulls rallied yet again to take set four 26-24.

After trailing, 6-3 in the fifth, the Bulls put the pedal to the metal, and took the clinching set, 15-10 and the match, 3-2.

The Bulls are off until next Saturday when they will travel to Cincinnati to take on the Bearcats.
