
No. 42 Hawaii Hands Bulls 4-0 Loss

Sophomores Wael Kilani and Yannick Yoshizawa picked up the Bulls' first and only doubles win of the day in their flight two doubles match against Philipp Eberhard and Andreas Weber. Kilani and Yoshizawa downed Eberhard and Weber, 8-4.
Sophomores Mark Oljaca and Alex Pukal teamed up together on Sunday against Daniel Llarenas and Leo Rosenberg in the flight three doubles spot. Oljaca and Pukal fell to Llarenas and Rosenberg, 8-3.
Senior Thomas Estrada and freshman Peter Frank closed out doubles play for the Bulls on Sunday in their flight one doubles match against Dennis Lajola and Jeremy Tweedt. With each team having won one doubles match, the winner of this match would determine who would have the 1-0 advantage heading into singles matches. Despite keeping things close, Estrada and Frank were not able to pull out the win over Tweedt and Lajola. Estrada and Frank fell to Tweedt and Lajola, 8-6.
Frank competed in the flight two singles spot on Sunday against Weber. Frank dropped his match to Weber in two sets 6-2, 6-1.
Oljaca competed in singles action against Tweedt in the flight three singles spot. Oljaca lost a close first set to Tweedt, 7-5, and then fell in the second set, 6-2, which gave Hawaii its third point of the day.
Yoshizawa also competed in singles action for the Bulls in the flight four singles spot against Rosenberg. Both players battled it out in the first set and it would be Rosenberg who would pick up the 7-6 first set win. Yoshizawa would also drop the second set to Rosenberg, 6-3, which gave Hawaii the fourth and final point it needed to pick up the win over the Bulls.
Pukal competed in the flight six singles spot for the Bulls on Sunday against Llarenas. Pukal won the first set, 6-2, and then dropped the second set, 5-7. Pukal was trailing 4-0 in the tiebreaker set before the match was ended.
Kilani competed against Lajola in the flight one singles spot. Kilani beat Lajola in the first set, 6-4, but Lajola would come back and win the second set 6-3. Kilani was up, 3-1, in the tiebreaker set before the match was ended.
Freshman Juan Carlos Acuna Gerard competed in the flight five singles spot against Eberhard. Gerard lost the first set to Eberhard, 5-7, and was down, 5-3, in the second set before the match was ended.
The Bulls, who are ranked No. 37 in the ITA rankings, fell to 1-3 on the season with the loss to Hawaii.
The Bulls will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Tallahassee to take on No. 13 Florida State.
