TAMPA-CollegedBaseballInsider.com has named USF junior right hander Randy Fontanez the National Pitcher of the Week following his no hitter against Notre Dame on Friday, March 24.
It is the first nine inning, no-hitter so far this season in Division I Baseball

Fontanez pitched the third no-hitter in school history Friday in a 4-0 win over Notre Dame. Fontanez registered a career-high 12 strikeouts. He walked two and two others reached on catcher's interference. Fontanez threw 119 pitches, of which 80 were strikes.
Fontanez will look for his second win of the season as he takes the mound in Cincinnati against the Bearcats in the series opener on Thursday. Now 1-4 on the season, Fontanez owns a 3.38 ERA with opposing batters hitting just .217 against him.
