
Klotz, Pacheco Power Bulls to 4-2 Win Over Murray State

TAMPA - In their first road game of the 2010 season, the University of South Florida women's soccer team (2-0-0) used three second-half goals to open the Racer Classic with a strong statement en route to a 4-2 win over host Murray State (0-1-2)_Friday afternoon.
Junior Chelsea Klotz netted a pair of goals while junior Gina Pacheco racked up a goal and two assists in the win over the Racers.
Klotz, who took a feed from Pacheco to give the Bulls a 1-0 advantage in the 41st minute, moved into sole possession of fourth on USF's career list with the eventual gamer winner at the 69:09 mark. Both of Klotz's goals came off of assists from Pacheco.
After a bit of a slow start to the match, the Bulls mounted a 2-0 lead after Pacheco found the back of the net just minutes into the second half. It was her first mark of the season and came off a feed from fellow junior Molly Stack.
The Racers cut the lead to 2-1 behind a Maja Nordhal tally in the 67th minute before Klotz' second goal of the night made it 3-1 with assist coming from Rehana Murani.
USF's junior class continued to be the story of the afternoon as Venicia Reid tallied the fourth and final goal for the Bulls thanks to an assist from Noelle Pineiro in the 84th minute, giving the Bulls a 4-1 edge.
The Racers tacked on a final goal in the final seconds for the match's final 4-2 outcome.
In the first meeting between the two schools, USF outshot the Racers 18-12 on the afternoon. USF put nine of their 18 shots on goal. Klotz and Pacheco led the way with five shots apiece.
The Bulls opened the season with back-to-back wins for the first time since 2006 and for the first time in head coach Denise Schilte-Brown's three-year tenure.
USF will have their first Friday-Sunday turnaround when they take on Southeast Missouri State on Sunday at noon to close out the 2010 Racer Classic.
Game Notes
Four goals scored in consecutive matches is the first time the Bulls have accomplished the feat since tallying back-to-back 4-0 victories to start the 2006 season... Pacheco's goal was the first of the season and the fifth of her career... She now has six career assists and 16 career points... In two career games at USF, Venicia Reid has scored twice... In two games, USF has outshot the opposition 39-15 and outscored them 8-2.
