Up Next For the Bulls:
Game 50: North Florida | May 17|  7 p.m. | USF Baseball Stadium

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Despite scoring first and three hits from freshman James Ramsay, the University of South Florida baseball team(22-28, 11-13) rallied but it wasn't enough as the Bulls dropped a 6-3 decision at Notre Dame in game two of double header Saturday evening.

With the win the Irish completed the sweep of the Bulls and moved ahead of the Bulls in the BIG EAST standings.

For the first time in the weekend, the Bulls were able to score first on an RBI single by Jonathan Koscso in the third inning.

The Bulls would not be able to hold the lead as the Fighting Irish tied the score in the bottom half of the frame, the first of six unanswered runs over the next four innings. The Irish scored a pair of runs in each the fourth and fifth innings followed by a run in sixth to open up a 6-1 advantage on the Bulls.

The Bulls would rally though in the eighth.

Leadoff singles by Chad Taylor and Peter Brotons and an intentional walk to Jonathan Koscso loaded the bases and set up back to back RBI groundouts by Junior Carlin and Anthony Diaz to cut the Notre Dame advantage to 6-3 but the Bulls would not get any closer.

Ramsay and Taylor combined to total five of the Bulls nine hits on the day with Ramsay collecting three. The Bulls were out hit 11-9 in the game.

In his longest outing of the season, sophomore starter Kyle Parker(0-1) suffered the loss yielding three runs on four hits. It was just the second start of the season for the lefty from Valrico.

Notre Dame starter Todd Miller(4-3) picked up the win after working seven plus innings, allowing three earned on eight hits.

Following this weekend, the Bulls will wrap up the non-conference portion of their schedule with a visit from North Florida on Tuesday, May 17 at the USF Baseball Stadium with first pitch slated at 7 p.m. USF will then wrap up the 2011 regular season with a three-game set against Pittsburgh at the USF Baseball Stadium beginning on Thursday, May 19.
