TAMPA, Fla. (May 15, 2026) – University of South Florida baseball defeated Wichita State to keep its postseason hopes alive. The Bulls (32-20, 11-15 American) beat the Shockers (27-27, 11-15 American) 7-6 in 10 innings to set up a winner-take-all matchup Saturday afternoon.
Jevin Relaford hit an RBI single through the left side against a shifted infield with the bases loaded in the bottom of the tenth to walk off the game for the Bulls. He went 2-for-6 with three RBIs total on the night, hitting a two-run double during South Florida's four-run fifth inning.
South Florida erased a 6-4 deficit after Wichita State scored six unanswered runs across the sixth and seventh innings.
Jake Kulikowski tied the game in the bottom of the seventh with a two-run pinch-hit single through the right side.
Jackson Mirza led the Bulls offensively, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and two runs scored.
Jack Lutz,
Jacob Green, and
Bradke Lohry all had two hits, with Lutz also recording an RBI.
Freshman
Michael Senay started on the mound for South Florida. He held Wichita State hitless through the first three innings.
Edwin Alicea recorded one out in relief before
Ethan Sutton entered in the sixth inning.
Sutton threw the final 4.2 innings for the Bulls, earning the win and stranding multiple Wichita State scoring threats. He recorded six strikeouts and is now 3-3 on the year.
After tonight's American Conference action, South Florida's postseason path is now simple. Charlotte defeated Memphis, and Tulane fell to Rice. South Florida advances to the American Conference Tournament with a win in Saturday's finale and is eliminated with a loss.

The University of South Florida baseball program, founded in 1966, enters its 61st season in 2026. Head coach Mitch Hannahs returns for his second year at the helm after leading the Bulls to 32 wins in his debut season—the program's highest win total since 2018. Notable alumni include two-time MLB All-Star and 2018 first-round draft pick Shane McClanahan. Bulls have earned All-America honors 12 times and Freshman All-America recognition 19 times.
