ORLANDO - The USF volleyball team is starting to build a rhythm and it's showing on the court.
The Bulls posted their largest margin of victory in a single game this season Saturday against Florida Atlantic and rolled to a three-set victory at the UCF Invitational in Orlando.
“I credit today's success to aggressive serving and disciplined defense,” said USF head coach Claire Lessinger of the 25-11, 25-13, 25-18 victory.
USF went on a 9-0 run to close out the second game and held FAU to a .013 hitting percentage, the lowest total by any Bulls opponent this season.
Lessinger was looking to see how her young team would recover from errors and the Bulls responded with their second consecutive victory.
“I saw a huge improvement in this area, which prevented us from losing momentum or dropping leads,” Lessinger said.
Valerie El Houssine led USF with 13 kills, while Shelby Dailey racked up 26 assists. Janice Rivera posted 13 digs for the Bulls, who play two matches at the Invitational on Sunday. USF starts the day off at 11 a.m. against UNC Greensboro and concludes with a 7 p.m. test against UCF.
