Bulls Sweep UNCG to Score Third Straight Triumph

By TOM ZEBOLD USF Senior Writer ORLANDO - The Bulls stayed hot at the UCF Invitational with a three-game sweep in their first match of the Sunday. The USF volleyball team defeated UNC Greensboro, 31-29, 25-20, 25-16. It marked the first time the team has posted three consecutive sweeps since 2008. “Winning the first set was pivotal,” head coach Claire Lessinger said. “Down the stretch, our offense got better and we had the whole team composed and confident in crunch time.” Valerie El Houssine extended a streak of her own by leading the Bulls in kills for the third straight match with 17. The freshman outside hitter has recorded double-digit kills in her past five matches. “I am so proud of her and her much improved consistency,” Lessinger said. J'beria Davis also got into the act with 11 kills, while Shelbie Dailey posted 34 assists. USF looks to keep its rhythm going at the Invitational later Sunday night at 7 against host UCF.
