Bulls Fall in Five Sets to UMES

USF Senior Writer TAMPA - Andrea Rodriguez Gomez reached a personal high in the Bulls first match of Saturday, a tough five-set loss to Maryland Eastern Shore at the USF Volleyball Invitational. Rodriguez Gomez, a 6-foot sophomore, posted a career-high 14 blocks in the 25-15, 25-19, 23-25, 20-25, 12-15 defeat. Her previous high was eight blocks against Miami (Ohio) last season. "We've been blocking machines since the start of last weekend," head coach Claire Lessinger said. USF's Kayla Walton also posted a strong performance with nine kills and eight blocks. Claudia Cabrera added 19 digs. "Games one and two we were calm, collected and executed very well," Lessinger said. "However, we have to expect teams to turn the corner and come out more aggressive after the break." The Bulls won't have to wait long to bounce back. USF hosts Bowling Green at 7:30 p.m. back at the on-campus recreation center. Admission to the event is free.
