TAMPA- USF volleyball clinched the sixth seed in the Big East tournament Sunday at the Corral with a win 3-0 over Georgetown.

The Bulls started the match with a 19-10 run and took the first set 25-15 while tallying a .577 hitting percentage.  J'beria Davis' five kills helped control the pace and ultimately helped the Bulls win the set.  Davis led USF with 14 total kills and notched a career-high hitting percentage of .700.

Head coach Courtney Draper praised her team's effort for the entire match, highlighting Davis' career night. 

“[Davis] was unreal tonight,” Draper said. “She had the best performance of her career, and she saved it for her senior day.”

USF fought off a late charge by the Hoyas and captured the second set 25-23, in a set which saw six ties and two lead changes.  Davis added five more kills to her stat line, and her kill late in the set helped hold off the Hoyas' late surge.

The Bulls fought off another late Georgetown rally in the third and won third and final set of the match 25-23.  

“Georgetown's really scrappy, and they never give up,” Draper said. “We knew we really had to take control on our side.”

USF will begin Big East Tournament play at Marquette Friday, drawing third seed Notre Dame.
