PITTSBURGH, Pa. -
Anthony Collins picked a great time to have a career night Sunday in Pittsburgh.

USF's freshman point guard poured in a game-high 22 points to help the Bulls complete a season sweep of the Panthers in a 56-47 victory that was televised nationally on ESPN2.

"Man, that little point guard is pretty good out there," USF head coach Stan Heath said.

USF (17-10, 10-4) reached the 10-win mark in the Big East for the first time since joining the conference. Victor Rudd Jr. was the other Bull in double figures with 11 points as USF also posted its first-ever win at the Petersen Events Center.

"I'm so proud of our guys," Heath said. "It's tough to win on the road with senior night here.

J.J. Moore was the lone bright spot for Pitt with 21 points off the bench. Pitt was held to a season-low points total and shot only 34 percent before dropping to 15-13 (4-11 in Big East).

USF opened the game on a 15-4 run before the Panthers made a charge of their own and ended up trailing, 28-27, at halftime.

Pitt started the game going 2-for-13 from the field but tied it at 22 on a dunk by Moore with nearly 4 minutes to go in the first half.

Moore gave Pitt its first lead of the night with a 3 with 1:45 to go in the half, but Rudd Jr.'s tip-in put the Bulls back ahead right before halftime.

Moore led all scorers with 11 at the break, while Collins had eight points and three assists for USF, which shot 54 percent in the opening period.

Collins was back at it in the second half, going on his own 5-0 run less than 2 minutes in and Rudd Jr.'s 3-pointer pumped the Bulls' lead back up to nine with 16:24 remaining.

"Once we got back at halftime we stressed trust," Heath said. "We got back to what we do – defend."

Collins reached his new career high on an open layup to give USF a 42-35 lead and he's now been in double figures in seven games this season. Collins' previous top single-game scoring mark was 15 in a win over Providence on Jan. 29.

"I knew I was going to log him in with a lot of minutes," Heath said. "Anthony is so good with the basketball in his hands. When he's knocking down in-between shots, I'm glad I'm not the opposing coach."

Pitt stayed in it for a while and got four straight points from Moore to help him tie his previous career high of 19 with 9:22 left.

A 3-pointer by Fitzpatrick got the Bulls' lead back up to six with 7:53 on the clock and it never dipped below that margin the rest of the way despite Gilchrist picking up his fourth foul with 3:56 remaining.

"That was a huge play," he said. "When Toarlyn has his feet set he's extremely accurate."

The Bulls can add another huge win to their already impressive NCAA Tournament resume 7 p.m. Wednesday when they play at No. 2 Syracuse.
