TAMPA - The Bulls swept Georgetown in their first Big East series of the season on Sunday.

USF (17-8, 3-0) defeated the Hoyas, 7-2, before a crowd of 1,014 at USF baseball complex.

"We wanted to be 3-0 after this weekend," said Prado. "It's a good start but we're not satisfied."

The Hoyas were able to strike first in the top of the third inning.  Trevor Matern reached on an error and advanced to second base on the throw.  Paul Bello followed with an RBI-single to score Matern and give Georgetown a 1-0 lead.

The Bulls responded with a two-run third inning.  Kyle Teaf led off with a walk, Chad Taylor doubled down the left field line to scored Teaf and James Ramsay hit an RBI-single to bring home Taylor and give the Bulls a 2-1 lead.

Ramsay came into the game leading the team with 11 multi-hit games.  The sophomore outfielder went 3-4 with one RBI and two stolen bases.

"We think he (Ramsay) will be a great player here," said Prado. "When he brings his game to the ballpark he's a pretty good player."

Georgetown's shortstop Mike Garza hit a solo shot to left field to tie the game at 2 in the fourth inning.

The Bulls picked up two more runs in the sixth inning on a two-out single by Llerena to score Jimmy Falla and Buddy Putnam and give USF a 4-2 lead.

Starting pitcher Matt Reed pitched six innings allowing five hits, two runs and one strikeout.

"Reed's a senior and I'm happy for him," said Prado.

Steven Leasure and Nick Gonzalez pitched in relief for Reed (3-2).  They combined to pitch three innings allowing one hit, no runs and four strikeouts.

"I knew we had to pitch well and our starters did a great job and our bullpen did a great job," said Prado.

Andrew Longley gave USF a 6-2 lead in the seventh inning on a bases-loaded single that scored Putnam and Ramsay.

The Bulls were able to put the game away in the eighth inning.

Daniel Rockhold hit an RBI-double to make the score 7-2 and seal the win for the Bulls.

The Bulls will host Florida A&M for a one-game series at 5 p.m. on Wednesday at USF baseball complex.
