MEMPHIS - Jennica Mullins recorded a season-high 11 kills and Erin Fairs posted her first career 20-20 match, but it just wasn't enough for the Bulls Friday night.
USF's offense struggled to find a rhythm, falling to Memphis in five sets, 25-23, 24-26, 22-25, 25-23, 15-13 to end the 2013 season.
The Bulls hit .167 as a team and topped the .170 mark in just one set as the Tigers dug up 101 attacks, and out-hit USF .184-.167.
Mullins hit a season-high .588 in 17 swings while Fairs pounded out 23 kills while hitting .263, but the rest of the team was held to a .070 by Memphis. The Tigers spread their offense around a little better in the match, as four Memphis players registered at least 14 kills.
USF senior middle blocker Andrea Rodriguez Gomez provided three aces and eight blocks, helping the Bulls to a 13-12 blocking edge in the match. Defensively, Fairs led USF with 26 digs, setting a new career high. Amy Van Sant, Wylie Devlin, Dakota Hampton and Natalia Soares all contributed at least 11 digs as well.
With the loss, the Bulls finish their season 17-15, with an 11-7 conference record. The Bulls finish fourth in The American, and will return all but one player from the 2013 season.
