TAMPA - The Bulls couldn't keep up with Indiana's bats in a 12-2 loss on Sunday afternoon.

USF starter Nolan Thomas (0-1) lasted 3 1/3 innings and was charged with four earned runs on five hits in the final game of the Big East-Big Ten Challenge in Dunedin, Fla.

Kyle Teaf (2-for-4, RBI) was one of five USF players to post multiple hits. The Bulls outhit Indiana, 14-12, but stranded 11 runners a game after scoring 20 runs in a win over Purdue.

USF (1-2) did prove to be clutch in a two-run fourth inning against the Hoosiers. Austin Lueck led off with a single to center before an Indiana error put runners on second and third. Teaf put the Bulls on the scoreboard with a single and USF scored its second run on a fly out to center by Alfonso.

Lueck, Alex Mendez, Chris Norton and Jimmy Falla all collected two hits on the final day of opening weekend for USF.

Indiana starter Kyle Hart (1-0) gave up one earned run on 10 hits and struck out four in seven innings of work. Brian Korte and Christian Morris gave up two hits apiece in the final two innings.

USF gets an early look at top in-state competition during a three-game series at Florida State next weekend. Action begins at 4 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 22 in Tallahassee.
