
Bulls Dominate Providence in Game 1

By TOM ZEBOLD USF Senior Writer TAMPA – Sara Nevins threw a one-hitter while Kourtney Salvarola hit her Big East-leading 13th home run in the Bulls' 10-0 win over Providence in game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader at USF Softball Stadium. Nevins (17-5) struck out 12 batters and walked one in the six-inning game that featured a ton of fireworks at the plate for USF (33-12, 11-1). Monica Santos hit a two-run homer to start a seven-run sixth inning for the Bulls and Salvarola capped things off with a three-run shot to left field. Kenshyra Jackson went 1-for-3 with two RBIs while Lee Ann Spivey, Ashli Goff and Courtney Goff collected an RBI apiece. A total of eight Bulls each had at least one hit against freshman right-hander Kiara Amos (5-13). Game 2 of the doubleheader is set for a 3:10 p.m. start and Sunday's series finale begins at 11 a.m. |
