Bulls Shut Out Providence for 3rd Straight Time

By TOM ZEBOLD USF Senior Writer TAMPA – The Bulls completed a three-game sweep of Providence with a 5-0 victory Sunday at USF Softball Stadium. Sara Nevins (18-5) picked up her second win of the series after striking out four and giving up four hits in the first five innings. The junior left-hander struck out 12 in a one-hitter on Saturday after becoming one of 25 finalists for the 2013 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award earlier this week. Sophomore Sam Greiner struck out a batter and gave up one hit in the final two innings. The USF pitching staff did not allow a run in the entire series that was highlighted by Lindsey Richardson's third no-hitter of the season on Saturday. Stephanie Medina led USF's 10-hit attack with a 2-for-4 performance while Monica Santos, Courtney Goff and Ashli Goff drove in runs. The Bulls (35-12, 13-1) hit the road for a three-game series at DePaul that starts with a doubleheader Saturday, April 20 at noon in Chicago. USF plays at doubleheader at Seton Hall on Tuesday, April 23 before wrapping up the regular season with a home series against Syracuse April 27-28.
