By SEAN BAROWS GoUSFBulls.com TAMPA – Lindsey Richardson threw her third no-hitter this season as the Bulls defeated Providence, 8-0, in game two of a doubleheader at the USF Softball Stadium. Richardson only allowed one runner to reach base and had seven strikeouts in what turned out to be a dominant day for both of USF's aces. Between both games the Bulls (34-12, 12-1) only surrendered one hit and three bases runners while striking out 19. It was the fourth no-hitter thrown by a Bulls' pitcher this season. Pitching wasn't the only thing clicking for USF on the afternoon as the bats stayed hot in game two. D'Anna Devine, Kourtney Salvarola and Lee Ann Spivey all had multiple RBIs and seven different players registered a hit for the Bulls. The Bulls used big third and fourth innings to propel them to their second run-rule victory of the day. Salvarola led the way with four hits, three runs and five RBIs between the two games while Spivey recorded four RBIs of her own to increase her season total to 31, good for second on the team behind Salvarola's 39. USF will go for their fourth consecutive series sweep tomorrow 11 a.m. at the USF Softball Stadium as they take on the Friars in game three of the weekend series. |
