MEMPHIS, OCT. 19, 2014 – Freshman Priscilla Ehieze led USF's offense in her first start for the Bulls' volleyball team, but it wasn't enough Sunday afternoon.
Ehieze recorded a team-best seven kills, but USF (8-12 overall, 2-6 The American) couldn't find an answer for Memphis on the road, falling to the Tigers in three sets 17-25, 17-25, 15-25 to drop its fifth consecutive conference match.
Memphis (16-6, 6-2) out-hit the Bulls .193-.000 and served up seven aces as USF suffered through 25 hitting errors and never found its groove against the Tigers.
Senior middle blocker Jennica Mullins recorded a pair of blocks to go with two kills in the first set to lead USF's scoring, and Ehieze added four kills, hitting .300 in the second. Junior outside hitter Erin Fairs tallied nine digs in the third set, but Memphis middle blockers recorded a collective 22 kills while hitting .541 to stymie USF's defense in the loss.
Sophomore Amy Van Sant finished the match with 15 digs, while Fairs added 14. USF returns home Friday to host Tulane on Parents' Night, and will host its annual Dig Pink game Sunday against Houston. The Bulls are raising money to donate to the Side-Out Foundation, which awards grants to medical research organizations and entities dedicated to providing patient services to breast cancer patients and their families.
