TAMPA, OCT. 24, 2014 – The University of South Florida volleyball team swept Tulane on Parents' Night Friday, sending USF back to its winning ways.
The Bulls improved to 9-12 overall and 3-6 The American while the Green Wave dropped to 5-16, 3-6.
USF's outside hitters paced the way for the team with three players each posting double-digit kills. Erin Fairs register 14 kills, nearly missing a double-double as she tallied nine digs. Priscilla Ehieze stuck 10 kills, her second career match with double-digit kills. Dakota Hampton slugged 10 kills and 11 digs, grabbing her fourth double-double of the season.
Setters Natalia Soares and Alex Mendoza set the team up for success, as the Bulls posted a .364 attacking percentage. Libero Amy Vansant tallied 15 digs, stifling the Green Wave's offense and holding them to a .161 clip. Outside hitter Tea Juric recorded 13 kills for the squad throughout the match.
USF set the pace early on in the match with a quick 4-0 start, topping Tulane 25-17 in the premiere frame. Eheize and Fairs led the Bulls, posting six and five kills, respectively. Soares assisted eight kills, while the team attacked at a .400 percentage. Jurik tallied five kills for the Green Wave.
The Bulls' momentum continued into the second stanza as Fairs downed seven kills in just ten swings. Soares assisted eight to close out the set at 25-18.
Hampton slugged her final four kills in the final set, earning her the double-double and sealing the Bulls' three-set victory, 25-15.
