CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. (Sept. 18, 2014)— An explosive start to the second half led the USF women's soccer team to an impressive 3-2 victory over Boston College Thursday night.

The Bulls (5-3-1) went into halftime down 2-0 to the Eagles (7-2-0). BC took an early lead, scoring just 23 seconds into the match and increased that lead in the 29th minute to 2-0. Coming into the match, USF was 0-1-3 when trailing at halftime.

Something was ignited in the team as they took the field after halftime. USF took the second half by storm and wasted no time getting on the board. Junior Cristina Ferral scored her first goal as a Bull on a corner kick taken by junior Olivia Chance at the 49-minute mark.

Just two minutes later, sophomore Leticia Skeete found the back of the net off an assist from senior Daniela Andrade to tie the match at 2-all. Skeete now has four goals to her name, including three game winners.

Tonight's game winning goal, however, would belong to senior Sarah Miller. With just under 10 minutes in regulation, senior Demi Stokes took a corner kick and found Miller, who headed in the ball, to give USF the 3-2 lead.

The Bulls have now scored 11 goals this season, with all but one coming in the second half. Six different players have scored, with Skeete leading the pack with four goals.

With the win, USF ended BC's six-game win streak and handed the Eagles their first home loss of the season.

The Bulls will be back in action next Thursday as they open conference play on the road at Tulsa on Sept. 25. The team then heads to Memphis for a Sunday afternoon match on the 28th to wrap up the month.

The USF women's soccer team has posted two consecutive 10-plus win seasons and three in the last four years under head coach Denise Schilte-Brown. The Bulls made their first NCAA tournament appearance and recorded their first tournament victory in 2010. USF returns 23 players from last year's roster including All-American Athletic Conference second team forward Demi Stokes and All-Rookie Team defender Leticia Skeete. They also bring back 11 players that appeared in 15 or more games last season.
