TAMPA – University of South Florida head volleyball coach Courtney Draper and her staff announced the signing of Claire Embry to a National Letter of Intent to begin play with the Bulls in the fall of 2016.
A McKinney, Texas native, Embry set a career-high with 497 kills for the Lions in 2014, earning her the District 10-5A Attacker of the Year Award. The outside hitter also played for the MadFrog Volleyball Club where her team qualified for the Junior Olympics at the highest level (17 Open) and finished 25th in the country.
“We are very excited to welcome Claire Embry to our USF volleyball program,” said Bulls head volleyball coach Courtney Draper. “Six rotation outside hitters are hard to come by, but that is exactly what Claire's game is - six rotations of solid volleyball. She is a good jumper, with a terminal arm. She will also add ball control to our gym, which we will need as we graduate Wylie Devlin.”
USF continues their weekend road trip at Temple on Sunday, Nov. 15 at 1:00 p.m.
The Bulls are back home to host Cincinnati on Friday, Nov. 20. That match will be held at The Corral and begin at 7:00 p.m.
