TAMPA, APRIL 11, 2015 - A consistent effort from sophomore Rigel Fernandes and a strong second round helped USF men's golf into fourth place heading into the final day of the Irish Creek Collegiate in Kannapolis, N.C.
Fernandes used 11 birdies to shoot a pair of 69's (-2) in two rounds at the 7,099-yard, par-71 Irish Creek Golf Course, recording a 138 (-4) to sit in a tie for fifth place after 36 holes. Junior Chase Koepka added seven birdies including four in the second round, posting a 71 (E) in the first round and a 69 (-2) in the second.
After shooting two rounds over par in the first round, the Bulls shot 282 (-2) in the second to sit just seven shots behind North Florida for the lead. Freshman Claudio Correa contributed to USF's big second round, knocking out three birdies on the back nine to shoot 70 (-1), tying for 15th after a 72 (+1) in the first.
Trey Valentine and Ryan Fricker each knocked out a 74 (+3) in a round for USF's final counting scores. Get full results and follow Sunday's final round, HERE.
