LOUISVILLE, Ky., June 1, 2016 – Erica Nunn capped off a stellar senior year with one final recognition, earning NFCA second-team All-American honors. Nunn, a first-team Mideast All-Region selection, is the first All-American since Sara Nevins in 2014.
Nunn joins elite company, becoming just the ninth player in USF history to receive All-American honors. She is the first utility/pitcher selection from USF and joins Sara Nevins, Leigh Ann Ellis and Mo Triner as the only pitchers selected in program history.
The senior became the Bulls' ace pitcher this season, throwing 221.2 innings with 223 strikeouts and just 81 walks. Nunn has allowed just 72 runs (54 earned) for a 1.71 ERA, her career best. The senior lefty boasts a 27-12 record with 11 complete games, five shutouts and six saves. She has allowed just 32 extra-base hits and held opponents to a .206 batting average in 20 appearances.
To open conference play, she struck out a season-high 14 batters in a nine-inning complete game victory over ECU. She carried a perfect game for 5.2 innings and a no-hitter for 6.2 before coming out with a 3-1 win. Nunn also reached a streak of 43 scoreless conference innings and did not allow a run in seven of her last 10 appearances in league play.
At the plate, Nunn hit .352 with a .533 slugging percentage and .421 on-base percentage. She recorded four home runs and ten doubles, with 15 runs and 30 RBIs. She is one of just two players to record a 5-plus RBI game this season and nine multiple-RBI games on the year. In her five-RBI game, Nunn was 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and a home run, and threw a two-hit game with five strikeouts. Nunn was a four-time conference pitcher of the week and was also honored by the NFCA as the National Player of the Week.
