TAMPA (Oct. 8, 2017) — The University of South Florida men's soccer team will take on No. 14 FIU, hoping to snap the Panthers' unbeaten record Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in the Bulls' Salute to Service match. All military personnel will receive free admission for up to four people with a valid military ID.
The Bulls suffered a tough loss to conference leader UConn on Friday night, when the Huskies scored twice in the early minutes of the match. USF is tied for second with SMU in the American Athletic Conference standings, both just three points behind UConn. The loss to the Huskies was the Bulls' only conference loss this season.
The Opponent
FIU is one of only three Division I men's soccer programs in the country without a loss, and is currently ranked fourth in the nation in win-loss-tie percentage. The Panthers are first in the nation in scoring offense, averaging 3.18 goals-per-game.

On Dec. 18 Bob Butehorn was appointed the head coach the USF men's soccer program. A member of the University of Tampa's 1981 national championship team and a three-time conference coach of the year, Butehorn previously led Florida Gulf Coast University's men's soccer program to six conference regular season championships, four NCAA Tournament appearances and Top 25 rankings in five seasons since 2010.
The Bulls concluded the season as The American regular season champions and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. The Bulls finished the season with a 10-6-4 overall record and a 6-1-0 mark in the American Athletic Conference.
