DALLAS (Oct. 5, 2017)
— Sophomore
Aubrey Megrath (West Palm Beach, Fla.) scored in the first five minutes and late in the second half of USF's 3-2 road victory at SMU that extended the Bulls' winning streak to three Thursday night.
Megrath played a cross from sophomore
Evelyne Viens (L'ancienne-Lorette, Canada), scoring her first goal in the bottom left corner of the goal just past the reach of the Mustang keeper to give the early lead to USF (8-3, 4-1).
Just over a minute into the second half, the Bulls doubled their lead with a goal by freshman midfielder
Katie Kitching (Bedale, England). Defender
Ocean Parr (Newmarket, Ont.) sent a pass to Kitching who worked a quick give-and-go with Viens, before serving the ball strong to the left. SMU's keeper got a hand on it, but the shot was strong enough to push past.
In the 55
th minute, the Bulls scored a third goal for the third straight game. Defender
Kelli Burney shot a rocket pass into scoring territory. Viens picked it up and battled two defenders to the end line, but saved the ball just before it went out of bounds. SMU got a quick touch, but Megrath came in and sent the ball through the legs of a defender into the back of the net.
The Bulls defense pressed hard, and held SMU (5-4-3, 0-2-1) scoreless for 65 minutes. The Mustangs scored twice in the second half, with an uncontested goal in the 66
th minute, and put away a free kick in the 86
th.
