TAMPA, MARCH 27, 2017 – The University of South Florida sailing team placed second at the SAISA Women's regatta over the weekend in Charleston, S.C.
In the six-school event, the Bulls were just five points outside of the top spot, claimed by the College of Charleston. The regatta was the qualifying event for May's ICSA Women's Nationals, as the top four teams earned a qualification.
Eckerd College and Jacksonville University rounded out the top four.
Notables
· In the B division, junior Sarah Streater (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), classmate Mandi Dickie (Minneapolis) and senior Tiffany Nicholson (New Port Richey, Fla.) won three of the six races and took home first place.
· Senior Alison Knoles (Gross Ile, Mich.), freshman Delaney Brown (West Palm, Fla.) and sophomore Rachel Yannelli (Woodcliff Lake, N.J.) finished third in the A division.
Quoatables
Head coach Allison Jolly on her team's performance:
“Conditions were exactly what we anticipate for the nationals in May, so it was a good warm-up. We were able to identify some of our strengths and weaknesses to better prepare us for the National Semifinal regatta, and fortunately have two more events against most of the top-ranked teams in the country.”
Up Next
The Bulls head to Providence, R.I. for the Dellenbaugh Women's Regatta hosted by Brown University being held this weekend, April 1-2.
