Both teams remained scoreless through 3.5 innings, with UConn taking a 1-0 lead on a leadoff homerun from Valerie Sadowl.

USF would get the tying run in scoring position in the sixth as Wyckoff singled and stole second with just one out. The Bulls couldn't bring her home, heading to the final inning facing a one-run deficit.
