Coach Green Wins Gold at 2017 USA Volleyball High Performance Championships

TAMPA, JULY 27, 2017 – USF volleyball assistant coach Travers Green helped guide one of the Team Florida High Performance volleyball teams to a gold medal at the 2017 USA Volleyball High Performance Championships in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

For the first time in the program's history, all six Team Florida High Performance teams medaled in their respective divisions at the tournament held July 18-22 at the Broward County Convention Center.

During the five day tournament in Ft. Lauderdale, Green served as the assistant coach for the Girls International Youth team (ages 16-17). He was involved with the team's scouting preparation and blocking scheme.

"I am always grateful and honored to have the opportunity to work with the Florida Region," said Green. "Under Steve Bishop's leadership, Team Florida has created a culture of excellence and an incredible experience for both the staff and athletes. I had the opportunity to work the best athletes in the state of Florida."

Green started coaching with the Florida Region High Performance program in 2013. This year was his fourth year coaching an HP team, having previously won bronze and silver. Green helped the team earn bronze in the Women's International Junior division in 2014 (Tulsa, Okla.) and silver in the Girls International Youth Division in 2015 (Des Moines, Iowa).

"For this year's team, we saw significant growth not only on the court but also in the relationships each player was able to create with one another."

Every year, the USA High Performance Championships are held to showcase some of the best athletes from across the globe. They come together to compete against one another in a week long tournament.
