Bulls Shut Out Howard, 1-0

Goal by sophomore forward Evelyne Viens in the 29th minute powers USF to 1-0 victory.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Sept. 15, 2017) The USF women's soccer team shut out Howard, 1-0, on Friday night. A goal by sophomore forward Evelyne Viens (L'ancienne-Lorette, Canada) gave USF the 1-0 advantage early, and senior goalkeeper Kat Elliott (Bradenton, Fla.) sealed the win with her first shutout of the season.

The Bulls got a hot start in our nation's capital with 12 shots over Howard's three, in the first half. Sophomore forward Aubrey Megrath (West Palm Beach, Fla.) knocked off two shots in the first two minutes alone, and top-scorer Viens scored the game's only goal in the 29th minute with an assist by newcomer Anyssa Ibrahim (Montreal, Canada).

A strong performance in the backfield by sophomore defender Kelli Burney (Bealeton, Va.) helped keep Howard at zero through all 90 minutes.
