WICHITA, Kan., Sept. 29, 2017 –The USF volleyball team dropped a straight-sets match to No. 25 Wichita St. Friday night. (15-25, 17-25, 10-25).  Â
The Bulls (5-8, 0-3 The American) fell behind early in the opening set, as the Shockers (11-3, 3-0 The American) won 25-15. The second set was tight in the early goings with six lead changes. Consecutive kills from outside hitters
Doris Carter (Lexington, Ky.) and
Reagan Davey (Ocala, Fla.) made it 9-9.

But Wichita St. went on a 7-1 run to take a 16-10 edge. The margin got no lower than four and the Shockers took the set 25-17. USF led 2-0 in the third set before an 11-3 Shockers run created enough separation. Wichita took the set 25-10 to win the match.

KEY STATS
- Carter, Davey and redshirt-junior middle blocker Clara Payne (Osteen, Fla.) all had seven kills to lead the Bulls. Payne finished with a team-best .267 hitting percentage and added two block assists.
- Senior setter Alex Mendoza (Minneola, Fla.) recorded 25 assists. Â
- Junior libero Maria McLamb (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) tallied 11 digs.

About USF Volleyball
In addition to 10 newcomers, USF returns a large core of talent for 2017, led by senior setter Alex Mendoza, who surpassed the 2,000 assist total in 2016 and posted a team-high 1,125 helpers. Redshirt-junior middle blocker Clara Payne finished second on the team with 340 points and senior middle blocker Joli Holland finished fourth with 251.5 points. The Bulls are guided by sixth-year head coach Courtney Draper.
