TAMPA, OCTOBER 11, 2018 – The USF volleyball team concludes its four-match home stand with contests against UConn on Friday night and Temple on Sunday.
The Bulls (13-5, 2-3 The American) will look to bounce back from their first winless weekend of the year after dropping two battles against Wichita St. and Tulsa last weekend. Junior
Jac'cara Walker (Gainesville, Fla.) had 30 kills and a pair of double-doubles last weekend. Senior setter
Briana Stowell (Orlando) had 46 assists in the two matches.
Nine current USF players have matched up against Temple in their careers.
Clara Payne (Osteen, Fla.) has faced the Owls five times, totaling 42 kills and 13 blocks. Stowell had a season high 27 assists against Temple last year in Philadelphia. Sophomore
Nikkia Benitez (Miami) had eight kills and 20 digs against the Owls in that same match.
Seven current Bulls have face UConn in their careers. In the matchup against the Huskies in Tampa last year, sophomore defensive specialist
Faby Ribas (Orlando) tallied 17 digs. Stowell had 19 assists and nine digs against UConn in Storrs last year.

Senior setter Emma Turner leads The American with 10.07 assists per set, 705 on the year. Freshman outside hitter Caylee Parker is third in the league with 236 kills averaging 3.85 per set. Redshirt sophomore middle blocker Genna Florig leads the team in hitting (.309) and blocks (58).
TEMPLE
The Owls (4-11, 1-4 The American) have been paced by sophomore outside hitter Katerina Papazoglou, who leads the team with 141 kills. Middle Blocker Iva Deak is swinging at a .313 efficiency and leads Temple with 55 blocks. The team has utilized two setters this season. Senior Hannah Vandegrift leads the Owls with 346 assists and freshman Tyler Lindgren is right behind with 334.
About USF Volleyball
Led by redshirt senior middle blocker Clara Payne, who paced the team with 300 points and finished seventh in The American with a .290 hitting percentage, USF and seventh-year head coach Courtney Draper are excited for 2018. Senior setter Briana Stowell finished second on the team in 2017 with 243 assists and averaged 22.3 per match in the final month of the year. The Bulls are welcoming six new faces to the roster, with five talented freshmen and a skilled outside hitter coming from Marshall University.
