TAMPA, OCT. 24, 2018ย โ The USF cross country team heads to New Orleans on Thursday to take part in the 2018 American Athletic Conference Championships at the Golf Club at Audubon Park.
Hosted by Tulane, the championships begin at 9 a.m. with the women's 6K run and will follow with the men's 8k race at 9:50 a.m. The championships can be viewed live on Facebook via theย American Digital Network.ย Click hereย to follow the live results. Dennis McNulty and Paul Boron will anchor the ADN coverage, starting at 10:45 a.m.
USF closed the regular season Oct. 12 with a sixth-place showing from the men's team and an eighth-place finish by the women's team at the South Florida Invitational.
Six Bulls on the men's team finished in the top 50 of the 8K race, led by freshman Danny Ferro (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) taking 20th overall with a time of 28:49.75. Crossing the finish line next, sophomore Matt Neeley (St. Johns, Fla.), placed 21st with a time of 28:51.18. The Bulls also had another top-30 finish, as sophomore Evan Babatz (Ft. Myers, Fla.) finished 29th overall with a time of 29:14.25.
The women's team had six runners finish the race within the top 50, paced by senior Yaranel Abreu's (St. Augustine, Fla.) time of 19:56.42 en route to a 29th-place finish.
Junior Claire Farnsworth (Lecanto, Fla.) and senior Brianna Rischar (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) finished the race within seconds of each other with respective times of 20:04.51 and 20:07.58 to place 31st and 32nd.

"We have been working extremely hard since last May for this day, so I am excited to see our team compete and fight until the end. I know we can be successful if we put it all together."
About USF Cross Country
Dena Reifย is in her seventh season as the head coach of USF cross country. The history of USF's women's program consists of five conference and two region championships as well as five NCAA qualifying teams. The USF men's program has produced seven conference championships and three NCAA qualifying teams.
