USF Tops Tampa in Exhibition Game
TAMPA, OCT. 30, 2018 – Justin Brown (Birmingham, Ala.) scored 15 points and added six rebounds to lead a trio of Bulls in double figures en route to an 80-52 victory over the University of Tampa Tuesday evening at the Yuengling Center.
T.J. Lang (Mobile, Ala.) added 15 points, hit three 3-pointers and collected three assists to help USF finish with 18 assists on 25 made baskets. Freshman
Michael Durr (Atlanta, Ga.) chipped in with 11 points, four rebounds and five blocks.
Pat Bacon paced Tampa with 14 points and three assists, while Anthony Gamble and Alberto Moreno scored in double figures with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
USF and Tampa went back-and-forth for the majority of the first half before the Bulls used a three-pointer from Brown to build a 36-25 lead in the final minute.
Antun Maricevic (Zagreb, Croatia) put USF ahead 60-45 midway through the second half to ignite a 14-2 run that pushed the lead to 72-47 with two minutes remaining. Two free throws from
Ron Lubin (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) moments later gave USF its largest lead at 78-49.

The USF men's basketball team is led by head coach Brian Gregory. On March 22, 2017, Gregory was introduced as the 10th head coach in program history. He previously led programs at Georgia Tech (2011-16) and Dayton (2003-11). Gregory spent nearly a decade as an assistant coach under Michigan State's Hall of Fame head coach Tom Izzo and helped the Spartans win the 2000 NCAA National Championship. Gregory brings nearly 250 career head coaching wins and six postseason appearances, including the 2010 NIT Championship, to Tampa. In his first season at the helm of the Bulls, Gregory led the team to its first 10-plus win season since 2013-14.
USF has retired three numbers in its 47-year history: Chucky Atkins (12), Charlie Bradley (30) and Radenko Dobras (31). The Bulls have earned three NCAA tournament bids and appeared in the NIT eight times.
