Devenish-Meares Named AAC Keeper of the Week
PROVIDENCE, R.I., Oct. 8, 2018–USF's
Harrison Devenish-Meares, junior goalkeeper on the men's soccer team, was named the American Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Week, announced by the conference on Monday.
Devenish-Meares (Sydney, Australia) boosted the Bulls (4-5-2, 1-0-2 AAC) in USF's 1-1 draw to SMU. The Aussie bagged 10 saves on the night, setting a new career-high for the third time in the 2018 campaign. Most notably, Devenish-Meares saved a potential game-winner in a one-on-one situation in the final minute against the Mustangs on Saturday night, forcing the overtime period which led to a draw in conference play.
Devenish-Meares has played all but 45 minutes in goal for the Bulls this season through 11 matches, and leads the American Athletic Conference in saves and saves per game with 48 on the season. He is just the second goalkeeper in the AAC to turn aside 10 attacks in a match this season.
Additionally,
Tomasz Skublak, senior striker for the Bulls (Hamilton, Canada) was named to the AAC Weekly Honor Roll, after scoring the equalizer against the Mustangs on Saturday night. Skublak is the leading scorer for the Bulls and leads the American in goals and goals per game in conference play, averaging one goal per contest.
Devenish-Meares and the Bulls will be in action Friday night against Tulsa at 7 p.m. at Corbett Stadium.

The Bulls concluded the 2017 regular season with a 6-6-4 overall record and finished fifth in the American Athletic Conference with a 3-2-2 mark. Head Coach Bob Butehorn leads the Bulls in his second season at the helm in 2018. Sophomore Adrian Bilhardt was added to the 2018 preseason all-conference team.
